Even with construction still not finished Phuket's Big Buddha has become one of the island's most important landmarks. The image sits on top of the Nakkerd Hills between Chalong and Kata. With its height of 45 metres it is the biggest Buddha in Thailand.

Walking around the site of Big Buddha you can enjoy best views of Phuket Town, Kata, Karon, Chalong Bay with its hundred of boats, Cape Phromthep and many more places. Many new small restaurants and cafés have opened on the road up to Big Buddha. Take a drink, relax and enjoy the great views.

The massive structure is completely funded by public donations. If you also want to contribute to the completion of this project, you will find countless donation boxes. The expected total costs are about 150 million baht and more than one third of this sum still has to be raised.
