Kata Beach or Kata Yai Beach, the ”big” Kata Beach to distinguish it from the smaller Kata Noi Beach is a very beautiful bathing beach with white powder sand in a scenic bay.

In the background of the beach big old Casuarina trees support the scenic picture as does the small island of ”Koh Poo”, Crab Island, which is a few hundred meters offshore. The road in the back of the beach is just a byroad with little traffic and no negative effect on beach life.

A good area for snorkeling is the northern end of the beach where you can find a beautiful coral reef with lots of colorful species of fish.

Kata is much more relaxed than Patong, but still offering plenty of opportunities for shopping, dining and nightlife. We consider it an ideal location for family holidays.
